It is devoted to two very respected friars, Luang Pho Chaem (หลวงพ่อแช่ม) and Luang Pho Chuang (หลวงพ่อช่วง), who drove the residents of Chalong Subdistrict battling against the Chinese insubordination in 1876 and with their insight into home grown pharmaceutical aided the harmed.

Wat Chalong Temple is found very nearly 10 kilometers South of Phuket town and only east of Kata shoreline in the South Eastern corner of the island.
